Rémi Houpert is a hospital-based research engineer and epidemiologist, currently serving as Project Manager of the SAVOIR program (INTERREG VI Caribbean, 2021–2027). SAVOIR (Support and Accompaniment for the Valorization of competences in Innovation and Research on data) is a major international cooperation and research initiative bridging French overseas territories with the wider Caribbean and Latin America through data science and digital health. Since 2023, he has been Project Coordinator, strengthening cancer registration activities across the Caribbean under a Memorandum of Agreement between CARPHA and the University Hospital of Martinique, and supporting the Martinique Cancer Registry as a Collaborating Centre of the IARC-GICR. In parallel, he contributes to academic teaching at the University of the French West Indies, where he lectures in Carcinogenesis and Cancer and Mathematical Processing of Scientific Data. From 2022 to 2025, he was Work Package coordinator of the CHLOECAPA research program (INCa–INSERM–CHU Martinique), focused on the relationship between chlordecone exposure and prostate cancer in the French West Indies. He is also a scientific partner of the IACR-GICR Caribbean cooperation initiative, the CHU Martinique’s Oncology Research Unit (UF 3596), and the SESSTIM research team (Aix-Marseille Univ., INSERM, IRD). His contributions include multiple hospital-university reports on cancer epidemiology, international cooperation, data-driven cancer surveillance, and health equity. His expertise spans project design and coordination, statistical modeling, cancer data visualization, and the ethics of biomedical research. Rémi Houpert’s professional path reflects a strong commitment to scientific diplomacy, public health research, and capacity-building in the Caribbean region, with a particular focus on cancer surveillance, digital innovation, and sustainable international cooperation.
