Lisa Maria Catharina van Hoogstraten (born in 1995 in Oss, the Netherlands) studied Biomedical
Sciences at Radboudumc, Nijmegen, obtaining her Bachelor of Science in 2016. During her study, she
mainly focused on epidemiology and cancer. In 2018, she successfully completed an internship abroad
at CNIO, Madrid, Spain, on the risk of pancreatic cancer in relation to lifetime smoking patterns, tobacco
type and dose-response relationships. She graduated cum laude from the Master program Biomedical
Sciences at Radboudumc. Shortly after graduation, she started her career as a junior researcher at the
Netherlands Comprehensive Cancer Organisation (in Dutch: IKNL, Integraal Kankercentrum Nederland),
working on the quality of bladder cancer care in the Netherlands. After one year, she continued working
on this topic, now as part of her PhD trajectory. She expects to obtain her PhD title and epidemiology-
registration in 2023, and aspires to become a Post-doc researcher in the field of cancer.
