I’m a biostatistician, working as researcher at Evaluative Epidemiology Unit, Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori di Milano (Italy), since 2017. My group main research areas are rare cancers and cancers of childhood, adolescence and young adults, with particular interest in new application of traditional epidemiological approaches and innovative methodologies development (data interoperability solutions, mathematical models, use of artificial intelligence, etc.) to handle the increasing availability of different types of data. Among others, we coordinate many different collaborative studies and joint actions based on cancer registry data to study cancer incidence and survival (e.g. RARECARE, RARECAREnet, EUROCARE, iPAAC). My main research field is cancer in Adolescents and Young Adults (AYAs) and its long-term sequaele. Since 2018, I am coordinating the first Italian cohort of AYA cancer survivors, based on population-based cancer registry data (more than 30 different italian cancer registries contributed) linked to administrative databases, to study the long-term impact of cancer and its treatment. I’m currenctly attending a PhD Program in Computer Science at University of Milano-Bicocca, Italy. My PhD project aims at developing models, based on Artificial Intelligence-based algorithms and methods, to predict cardiovascular diseases incidence in AYAs breast cancer survivors, with particular interest on causal interpretability. The results produced by this project are envisioned to be used to properly help clinicians in follow-up gudeliness planning, for such an understudied population.
