I am currently a postdoctoral scientist at the Cancer Registry of Granada in the Andalusian School of Public Health and the Research Institute ibs.Granada. I have a background in behavioral science and epidemiology, with a PhD in psychology (cum laude) from the University of Granada (2016) in Spain, a MSc in Psychology (2012, cum laude) from the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands, a Specialization Diploma in Epidemiology and Clinical Research from the University of Granada (2018), and a BA degree from Jacobs University Bremen (2010) in Germany. I completed my education thanks to scholarships from the Dutch Ministry of Science and Culture (Huygens Program) and the Spanish Ministry of Science (Research Personnel Training (FPI) grant to complete my PhD). As a postdoctoral scientist I have been supported by several highly competitive national fellowships in Spain including Juan de la Cierva Junior, Sara Borrell, and Juan de la Cierva Senior. As part of the research team of the Cancer Registry of Granada, I work mainly on socio-economic inequalities in cancer. I have led studies examining the duration of intervals on the cancer care pathway and adherence to clinical guidelines for cancer diagnosis and treatment. I have participated in several European projects including EPIC (European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition), PROPHET (A personalized prevention roadmap for the future healthcare), and JARC (Joint Action on Rare Cancer). As a behavioral scientist, I also lead research on the social and behavioral aspects of cancer that helps translate epidemiological findings to society. For instance, I am part of the Working Group on Communication for the development of the 5th edition of the European Code against Cancer. My research is reflected in 70 journal articles, in 41 (60%) of which I am principal author (first, last, or corresponding). I have 41 articles (55%) in leading (Q1) journals and 40 articles part of international collaborations.
