Bárbara Peleteiro has a Degree in Biochemistry (Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto, Portugal, 2004), a Master in Epidemiology (Faculty of Medicine, University of Porto, Portugal, 2007) and a PhD in Public Health (Faculty of Medicine, University of Porto, Portugal, 2011).
She is currently an Epidemiologist at São João Hospital University Centre in Porto, Portugal (since 2017), working as Senior Technician at the Cancer Registry and as Data Manager at the Breast Centre, an Invited Assistant Professor in Epidemiology at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Porto, Portugal (since 2015), and a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Institute of Public Health of the University of Porto, Portugal (since 2012), being an integrated member of the Epidemiological Research Unit (EPIUnit) and the Laboratory for Integrative and Translational Research in Population Health (ITR).
She has supervised 1 PhD thesis, 14 Master theses and co-supervised 1 PhD thesis and 1 Master thesis. She is currently supervising 1 PhD thesis and 1 Master thesis and is co-supervisor of 1 PhD thesis. She is the managing editor of the Porto Biomedical Journal (since 2016) and a member of the BMC Gastroenterology editorial board (since 2014), becoming a senior member of the latter in 2020. She was awarded with the Enrico Anglesio Prize in 2010. She has participated in 2 projects funded at national level and has joined the international consortium StoP. She has published 83 papers in international peer-reviewed journals, 17 as a first and 12 as the last author, and 3 book chapters, as well as 21 abstracts in conferences.
Her main research interests are the ascertainment of the impact of disease burden associated with cancer, both by the analysis of secondary information on health and by the use of original data.
