Dr. Qinran Liu is a postdoctoral fellow in Cancer Disparities Research at the American Cancer Society in Atlanta, GA. She joined ACS in 2024 after completing her PhD in Epidemiology at the University of Miami. Dr. Liu's research focuses on cancer disparities and life course modifiable risk factors in cancer management. During her doctoral studies, Dr. Liu enhanced the Florida Cancer Registry by integrating statewide discharge data, providing comprehensive clinical insights with treatment modalities and comorbidities. Her work highlighted persistent Black-White treatment disparities in early-stage non-small cell lung cancer and intra-ethnic diversities in cancer outcomes among Hispanic and Black populations. These findings underscore the critical need for disaggregated racial/ethnic groups in developing targeted cancer control strategies. Currently, Dr. Liu investigates life course cancer risk factors, from early life exposure to dynamic social support, using longitudinal cohort and multi-state cancer registry data. Her innovative approach integrates both modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors into cancer disparity research, aiming to identify disadvantaged groups and potential mitigating strategies. By enriching cancer registries with comprehensive clinical data and focusing on modifiable risk factors, Dr. Liu's research aims to develop more effective, targeted interventions across the cancer care continuum, incorporating sociocultural contexts to ultimately save lives.
