In September 2023, she started her PhD, funded by the Swiss Cancer Research, at the EBPI under the main supervision of Prof. Dr. Sabine Rohrmann. In her PhD project Flurina Suter investigates the manifold effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the pandemic measures on several cancer outcomes, such as cancer diagnoses, cancer stage distribution, and cancer survival. For her project, she works with population-based data provided by the cantonal cancer registry of the Swiss cantons of Zurich, Zug, Schaffhausen and Schwyz which is led by her PhD supervisor, Prof. Dr. Sabine Rohrmann. With her research, Flurina Suter aims to provide a detailed insight into the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on cancer outcomes in Switzerland and to shape decisions of the government and public health authorities during a future pandemic.
