I'm a research technician specialized in bioinformatics and biostatistics working in the Girona Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBGI-CERCA) in the Descriptive Epidemiology, Genetics and Cancer Prevention research group of Dr. Rafael Marcos Gragera. Previously, I graduated in Biology at the University of Girona and then I specialized myself studying a master's degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biomedicine at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. During the study of both degrees, I was able to develop my skills in basic research working in the Department of Cell Biology of the University of Girona, and later on in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of the Autonomous University of Barcelona. During this second project, I had the opportunity to carry out some of the experiments in the Alba 3r generation synchrotron light. After finishing my studies, I started working in Firmenich SA, which is an international company that produces chemical formulas of ingredients, flavors and fragrances for other companies. However, after one year working in the company, I felt that science was calling me back because I missed all the work that involved research. So the following year I started a Master's degree in Bioinformatics and Biostatistics at the Open University of Catalonia. The reason why I chose this specialization was mainly because during my studies in Biology the subjects of Statistics and Bioinformatics caught attention and I wanted to explore more knowledge in this field. After one year of combining my job with my Master's studies, I decided to quit my job and focus only on my Master's studies and to look for a scientific research group to do my Master's thesis. By searching for research groups, I finally started doing my Master's thesis in Dr. Rafael Marcos Gragera and later I had the opportunity to be hired in the same research group to continue my research on cancer epidemiology.
