Natalia Godoy, born in Bogotá, Colombia, is a medical doctor with a global perspective, holding an international master’s in public health from France and a PhD in Clinical Epidemiology from Javeriana University. My career is dedicated to improving health conditions for vulnerable populations and addressing health inequities, with experience in research across mental health, kangaroo mother care, cancer research, and survivorship. My international academic journey began in France, where I completed my MPH and undertook an internship at the Pan American Health Organization, serving as a research assistant and developing my master’s thesis. Upon returning to Colombia, I fulfilled my mandatory social service in research at San José Hospital in Bogota and later worked as a Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator in Cali for the TDR Special Program for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases. Driven by a strong interest in cancer research, I pursued a PhD focused on childhood cancer survivors in Colombia. My thesis, awarded a Laureate, aimed to comprehensively understand this critical issue using data from Colombian population-based cancer registries. Initially, I quantified the incidence of childhood leukemia (CL), examining temporal trends by birth cohort, calendar year, and age. Following this, I estimated population-based CL survival at 1, 5, and 10 years after diagnosis across various Colombian cities, including Bucaramanga, Cali, Manizales, and Pasto. In addition to quantitative analysis, I explored the current health status, quality of life, and common health events among Colombian childhood cancer survivors. My research culminated in a qualitative study on the cancer experience from the embodiment perspective, for which I was awarded First Place in Poster Presentation at the 1st Postgraduate Research Congress in 2023 from Javeriana University. Fluent in Spanish, and proficient in English and French, I remain committed to advancing cancer epidemi
