I am a medical doctor from Germany and graduate in public health epidemiology. My PhD thesis in public health sciences at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Germany, in cooperation with the African Cancer Registry Network (https://afcrn.org/) focussed on cancer epidemiology and health service research in Sub-Saharan Africa. I conducted field research in Namibia and the Republic of Congo for 6 months working together with the population-based cancer registries in Windhoek and Brazzaville. In this research, we compiled critical clinical data on e.g. stage at diagnosis, completeness of treatment and survival. Recently, I have also been involved in research on strengthening societal and health care resilience facing the climate crisis at the Berlin-based Centre for Planetary Health Policy, and doing research on air pollution and obstetric outcomes at Karolinska Institutet as part of my master thesis in epidemiology.
