Allini Mafra da Costa is an accomplished epidemiologist and cancer research scientist with extensive experience in global public health. She is currently working as an epidemiological research scientist at the National Cancer Registry in Luxembourg. Before this, she had served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Luxembourg Institute of Health, where she contributed significantly to public health research. Allini holds a PhD from Barretos Cancer Hospital, Brazil, where she has also been deeply involved in cancer registry coordination, research, and biostatistics. Throughout her career, Allini has worked on numerous international projects, including postdoctoral research with the Cancer Surveillance Branch (CSU) at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) under the World Health Organization (WHO), and as a consultant for the African Cancer Registry Network. Her research spans multiple continents and addresses cancer trends, survival rates, and screening efficacy. She has published extensively with key studies on cancer mortality trends, global cancer survival analysis, and the impact of COVID-19 on cancer services. Her work on global patterns of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, breast cancer, and colorectal cancer is particularly noteworthy. Her contributions to public health extend to academia, where she lectured on epidemiology and biostatistics. Allini’s global perspective and deep expertise make her a pivotal figure in the field of cancer research.
