In 2017, I started my Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences at the University of Twente, and after completing this degree in 2020, I also completed my Master's degree in Health Sciences at the same university in 2021. For my master's thesis I did an internship at the Netherlands Comprehensive Cancer Organization (IKNL) within the COVID-19 and cancer project. After successfully completing my master's thesis, I wanted to continue to contribute to IKNL's mission of reducing the impact of cancer. Therefore, I started working as a junior researcher and later as a PhD student in the palliative care research team at IKNL. My research aims to provide population-based evidence on palliative and end-of-life care for cancer patients using registry data and other national data sources. I am passionate about improving palliative care for cancer patients by using and linking national data sources to inform clinical practice and support shared decision-making, so that care and treatment in the palliative care phase meet patients' wishes and preferences. In addition to my research activities, I aim to help integrate palliative care research into oncology research within IKNL by collaborating with several IKNL research teams as well as contributing to large IKNL reports and overviews by means of providing palliative care input. In addition, by organizing organization-wide research meetings, I aim to support the dissemination of IKNL research findings within IKNL.
