Biologist, MSc in epidemiology with more than 10 years of professional experience as a Researcher at the Center for Health Studies of the University of Nariño, he also works as a research professor in the medicine program and postgraduate health programs at the same university and others Universities.
In 2016 he received the “Enrico Anglesio” international Prize awarded by the “Fondo Anglesio Moroni per l´Oncologia and he also was selected as part of the network of the 50 future world leaders in cancer research by the Agency International Cancer Research (IARC) of the World Health Organization”.
Since 2013 he has received training and training awarded several times by the IARC and other universities and agencies around the world such as: The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicide in England, the ULM University in Germany, the International Union for Cancer Control (UICC), the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the National Cancer Institute (NCI) of the United States, the Gruppo per l´Epidemiologia e la Registrazione del Cancro nei Paesi di Lingua Latina (GRELL). Since 2018 he has been an official IARC trainer for Colombia and Latin America.
He has also participated in numerous international scientific congresses organized by the agencies mentioned above and in several national congresses. He has published more than 20 scientific articles in international high-impact journals such as Lancet and Cancer Epidemiolgy and nationally in journals such as Colombia Médica and the National Journal of Public Health, among others. He is the author of 2 books on cancer epidemiology in the region and book chapters in IARC publications, as well as the author of more than 30 institutional serials on the same subject. He is part of the research group \"Public Health\" and of different scientific knowledge networks articulated with the IARC.
