The Italian Pandemic Preparedness Plan. Where are we?

According to the latest news, reported in an article in Il Sole 24 Ore published on February 23, 2026, Italy has not yet published the 2025–2029 Pandemic Plan. The most recent draft dates back to summer 2025 and is currently the subject of back-and-forth discussions between the Ministry of Health, the Regions, and the Ministry of Economy, which has raised concerns about financial coverage

Stefano Rosso and Iacopo Baussano go back to their previous article where they estimated the epidemic dynamic of Covid-19 in Piedmont in 2020. They investigated how the SIR/SEIR models worked against what happened in the view of using this approach for tackling the future challenges that will come.
